Usability of Multi-Factor Authentication Devices

A study conducted by the Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation, Deakin University

Welcome to our study on the Usability of Multi-Factor Authentication Devices. We appreciate your interest in our study and look forward to your valuable feedback.

Full Project Title: Improving the Adoption of Physical Authentication Devices through Enhanced Usability

The primary aim of this study is to examine the usability features for physical authentication devices and its impact on adoption. Results from this study may help the participant to improve the usability and accessibility features of physical authentication devices which in turn may increase their awareness of such devices and willingness to adopt such technologies.

Why is this research important?

When it comes to protecting your data, MFA is a more secure approach than simply using passwords. But using your smartphone for MFA can be time-consuming to set up and use. Physical authentication devices can provide an easy and streamlined way to use MFA. Our study raises the importance of how usability features differ amongst user groups and how neglecting this fact may have been resulting in low adoption rates of critical cyber security-related services.
